Facts about Gateway Arch:
The Arch is 630 ft. tall. It is made of stainless steel and weighs 43,000 tons. The Arch is an inverted Catenary curve, which is often used in bridges, domes, and arches. The arch is made to sway one inch in a 20 mile an hour wind and up to 18 inches in 150 mile an hour wind. Visiting the arch was definitely worth the stop! Funny story--Steve's parents gave Steve a GPS for Steve's graduation, great little device, and it tried getting us back onto the freeway via the river. There was only one thing missing- a road. However, the GPS was wonderful and was VERY useful in getting us to Winston Salem and getting us around Winston Salem! I'm sure everyone who knows Steve and I and our few mishaps of getting lost can attest to this.
